Hello,
Welcome to my blog! I’m Elise Morton-but you can call me Ellie. I’m a rising junior from Orlando, Florida. I’m currently attending Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes to learn more about computer science through a course entitled “Computer Simulation and Interactive Media.”

Back at home, I am a member of my school’s programming team and play soccer with a club and school. I am very passionate about involving more women in STEM fields, so much so that I am starting a club at my school to motivate other high school girls to start coding. This past year I took both Programming I and Web Design I, where I learned Java, JavaScript, PHP, and how to make and manage a website. In addition to these two classes, another subject that interested me was math. I enjoy learning about the applications of math in society and we learned about some applications of pre-calculus in the world. I hope to learn more about how math affects the world in Calculus next year.
Other than that, I enjoy traveling and speaking French. I started learning French in kindergarten and have loved it ever since. I have been to France and parts of Canada to practice speaking. I plan on studying abroad in college, hopefully for an entire year. Maybe one day I’ll work for a transnational company and put my French skills to use!
Thank you for your interest in my life,
Ellie
That’s awesome to hear that you’re becoming involved with women in STEM fields, and even greater that you’re starting a group to enact that. So much respect for that =) keep doing what you’re doing
